For women
Bust – measure around the fullest part of the bust. The measuring tape should go across the back strictly parallel to the waistline and should rest slightly higher, at the shoulder blades. Do not overtighten the tape, but avoid leaving extra slack, as seam allowances are already included in the pattern.
Waist – measure at the narrowest part of the torso, allowing for comfortable breathing, with no additional allowances.
Hips – measure below the waist, usually 18–22 cm down, at the widest point of the hips, taking the abdomen into account.
For men
Chest – when measuring chest circumference, the measuring tape should lie horizontally across the torso and pass under the armpits.
Waist – the tape should pass horizontally around the body at the natural waistline — where the spine curves in at the back. If there is a prominent abdomen, measure at its fullest point.
Hips – measure horizontally across the widest part of the buttocks. While measuring, place two fingers under the tape and do not overtighten.
